When in IX century, King Alfonso II, “the Chaste one”, made the trip from its ovetense court to the place called Iria Flavia (Padrón) to know the tomb just discovered the Apóstil Santiago and created a church with dignity sufficient to welcome those rest, it initiated a current that with running of the centuries was holding fast and creating routes with an increasing importance and constituting one of the cultural and religious events more importanes of the history of the humanity. Therefore, Alfonso II fué first travelling to Compostela and its itinerary constituted the first Way of Santiago: from Oviedo, capital of the kingdom, by Degree, Rooms, the Thorn, Tineo, Pola de Allande and Grandas de Salime. The Way was created and important center of he himself was the city of Oviedo that, in addition, welcomed a set of relics, among them the famous Shroud, rescued and arrivals to Oviedo from Jerusalem and that was guarded in a sent chapel to construct by king Alfonso II, who is today the Camera Santa. Even so, the importance that the relics had acquired between the cristiandad guarded in Oviedo, turned to the city in “forced” step of many travelling ones that considered essential to venerate to El Salvador before to its Santiago disciple, of there the old French song that says: “Who goes to Santiago and not to El Salvador, he visits the servant and he leaves the Lord”.
