Ules, Les Campes, Saint Lazaro of Paniceres,
Cabañes, Fabarin and Loriana
Looking from the city side of Mount
Naranco towards the city there is another
route which begins in the Monuments’ Avenue
and ends up at the top of the mountain
by the Statue of the Sacred Heart of
Jesus. It is worth visiting Ules or
Brañes where Santa Maria’s
Church is located; dating from the
18th century, it is a fantastic sacred
construction built in a popular style,
in which is preserved a crucifix of
great value. Among Ules’ Treasures
it is important to mention San Isidro’s
Chapel.
From there leads a path towards Lampaya’s
Peak, the highest point of the town
which holds the very same name, from
that point we can get the best views
of the Saint Claudio and The Regueras’ valleys.
From Saint Lazaro it is possible
to head up to El Llano and take the
left turn towards Brañes, leaving
the Way of St. James, which continues
towards Grado. Going up Brañes
steep slopes we can reach the highest
peaks of Mount Naranco.
Mount Naranco houses two jewels of
the Asturian Pre-Romanesque Architecture:
Santa Maria del Naranco and San Miguel
de Lillo, designated as World Heritage
Sites.
At Loriana it is well worth visiting
San Esteban’s Church.
