AWARDS
The prizes are awarded by the Prince
of Asturias Foundation, which was founded
on the 24th of September 1980 in Oviedo.
It is this Institution’ primary
aim to strengthen and thus consolidate
the ties between the Principality of
Asturias and HRH the Prince of Asturias,
Heir to the Spanish Throne, as well
as the to promote and acknowledge all
those scientific, cultural and humanistic
values which are part of our World
Heritage.
The awards are presented annually
in a solemn ceremony held at The Campoamor
Theatre in Oviedo, a city which turns
into Spain’s cultural capital
and a worldwide cultural reference
over the period. These awards are meant
to acknowledge the worldwide scientific,
technical, cultural, social and humanistic
work carried out or developed by individuals,
groups or institutions.
