Rehabilitation
of the Filarmónica Theatre
The restoration of the theatre will
be carried out with the support of the
Plan for the Tourist Excellence according
to a scheme carried out by the architects
Joaquín G. Menéndez y Pablo
Gamonal. That project seeks to integrally
recover the original elements of the
building, rather old-looking out of use,
and, at the same time, to furnish the
whole structure with the systems and
services a modern theatre requires as
far as possible without significantly
modifying the original structure.
The work has been divided into three
stages, the first one beginning in
September 2004, with a total budget
of 623,000 Euro, dealing primarily
with the total renewal of the electrical
system and the compliance with the
current hazard regulations, especially
in what refers to the fire hazard regulations.
Along with this work, the restoration
of woodwork and wood elements, handrails
and heater covers, inner painting,
the renewal of the hall floor, replacement
of decorative veil and curtains, restoration
of the marble block floor in the mall
and cover of façade and ground
floor with plaques. This first stage
was undertaken out of funds of the
Plan for the Tourist Excellence.
