Oviedo invites you to discover Easter,
combining History and secular tradition
renewed year after year in the matchless
setting of its recovered urban area.
Streets converted into live temples created
by those who march in the processions
organized by several Brotherhoods:
- Brotherhood of El Silencio
and Santa Cruz, founded in 1945
and refounded in 2001 with its canonical
venue in Santa Maria Real de la Corte
and its social venue in Azcarraga’s
Street, 27
- Fraternity and Brotherhood
of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno,
with its canonical venue in the Conventual
Church of Santo Domingo and founded
before 1675
- Fraternity and Brotherhood
of Jesus Cautivo, founded in
1996, with venues in the Church of
San Juan el Real de Oviedo and in
Fray Ceferino’s Street, 24
- Brotherhood of El Santo Entierro
and of Nuestra Señora de los
Dolores, founded in 1959, with
its canonical venue in the Parish
Church of San Isidoro el Real and
its social venue in Magdalena Street,

- Cofradía de Nazarenos del Santísimo Cristo de la Misericordia Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Sentencia María Santísima de la Esperanza y San Francisco Javier. "Cofradía de los Estudiantes", con sede en Iglesia San Francisco Javier de la Tenderina en la Avenida de Torrelavega, nº 63.
The schedule for the processions
is as follows:
On Maundy Tuesday at
dusk is held the
Procession of “El Silencio”,
which begins at the Parish of Santa
Maria Real de la Corte. On Maundy
Wednesday starting
from Santo Domingo’s
Square The Procession of “El
Nazareno”. On Maundy
Thursday the Procession
of “Jesús
Cautivo” departs from
the Church of San Juan El Real. On Good
Friday the Procession
of the “Santo
Entierro” is held at
the Church of San Isidoro el Real.
And to complete the Processions, on Easter
Saturday the Procession
of “La Soledad” is
celebrated from the Church of San Isidoro
el Real
