Parks and Open Spaces
Oviedo enjoys more than 1,000,000
sq. m of parks and open spaces, the
vast majorirty of which correspond
to the large Oviedo parks:

| St.
Francis’ Park |
- St. Francis’ Park, situated
in the centre of the city, is the
city’s actual big green lung.
It is the most traditional park
in the city, with a dense cops
of high trees. It is fairly well
equipped, counting on a music kiosk
and several pavillions, fountains,
benches, and alleys and ,among
them, the historical alley called “El
Bombé”.
- The Winter Park,
situated to the South of the city,
by using the old train route from
which the so-called “Green
pathway” to Fuso stems, has
become a leisure area with a wide
variety of open spaces and recreational
sports areas.
- Western Park. It has an important
sports centre: swimming pools and
tennis courts. On its outskirts
the newly-built football stadium “New
Carlos Tartiere” has
been erected.
- Purificacion Tomas’ Park,
situated to the NW of the city,
on the slope of Mount Naranco.
It has a wide variety of trees.
In its surroundings there is a
plant nursery, being a perfect
place to practice outdoor activities.
- Monte Alto,
situated on top of Mount Naranco
stands out for its charming park
and recreation area.
- The Finnish Pathway or
Finnish Track, it is a pathway
around Mount Naranco restricted
to pedestrians.
- The “Campillín” (Asturian
for tiny park), ituated farther
to the South, is a triangular park
and the closest one to the Historic
Old Town district.
- San Pedro de los Arcos Park.
In the vicinity of the church of
the same name.
- Santullano Park in Teatinos.
It offers the possibility of a
superb view of the church of San
Julián de los Prados (World’s
Heritage).
