CATHEDRAL

SAN SALVADOR’S CATHEDRAL. (Gothic
16th Century)
Its construction began in the 14th century, stemming from the primitive Basilica
of El Salvador erected by Fruela I. Inside it, the visitor can view an array
of various art elements in different styles: Pre-Romanesque (9th century) in
the Holy Chamber; from the ancient Basilical church, the Romanesque Tower of
the 9th century. The Gothic style may be observed in the Tower, Cloister, Chapterhouse
and altarpiece. Both Renaissance and Baroque styles in The Chaste King’s
Chapel (Capilla del Rey Casto) and Ambulatory.
